Q: How can you really run an effective practice in under one hour ?
A: In the past I have run a whole practice in under an hour and I still do it to this day. It requires a lot of preparation but the video makes it easy and the formula is successful. One manager and coach can do it over the course of a season as long as they prepare. When I say "prepare" I do not want parents who want to coach to get scared and think of it as a job.

Q: How did you come up with this idea?
A: It required a lot of trial and error with my own practices, and observing a lot of other coaches and their own practices. What really got me motivated was that twelve years ago I got grew tired of watching coaches run practices which consisted of only two hours of batting practice. Not only was this a waste of the coaches time but it also caused the kids to become bored with practice.

Q: Do the players like all the drills in the video?
A: Some years certain drills will be popular to a certain group and other years it won't. I remember how one year's group did not like one particular drill[even though they enjoyed the others], but a few years later I tried it again and it became our team's favorites. Be a creative coach and as the season progresses the players will let you know which drills they like.

Q: Aren't you sacrificing individual attention and focusing too much on the team having fun?
A: Absolutely not. Most of these drills help improve an individual's skills while the players are also stimulated.

Q: have looked at a lot of baseball instructional videos and for the most part the teams practice on a beautiful facility when in reality most youth baseball teams do not have access to these places. How is this video different?
A: We are located in the Northeast of the United States, about 30 miles north of New York City. Very often we would want to practice and could not because the field was already being used. I would move the practice to a parking lot and still run an effective one hour practice. About two-thirds of these drills can be done in a parking lot or in a backyard.

Q: Is this video geared only towards 10-12 year old baseball players?
A: These drills can be used for many age groups, but a large field is needed for junior high school and high school practices.

Q: Can you use the drills on this tape for girls softball?
A: Yes. All of the drills in this tape can work for girls softball. In fact, some of the drills work better for softball than baseball. I had a coach from New Jersey who coached both his son's baseball team and his daughter's softball team. He insists that most of the drills work as well and in some cases better with softball than baseball.

Q: Is there any literature that go with the purchase of " The 59 Minute Baseball Practice" ?
A: We have put together five sample practices that are included with the tape.Two of these sample practices can be done when a field is not available.

A: Yes. The video is recommended by the National Youth Sports Coaches Association in West Palm Beach Florida which is the largest amateur training organization for youth coaches. The video is actually used in their training sessions in their 1,500 chapters nationwide.

A: Both. Initially the video was done geared to the parent/coach of a CYO or PAL team. A number of high school coaches viewed the video and said some of the more complex drills including the shooting drills and rebounding drills are excellent drills for school coaches. Q: How many drills should a coach run in a typical practice?
A: It depends on the age group and the amount of practice time. Some youth teams are only allotted about an hour of practice time because of the shortages of gyms. In a situation like this eight to ten drills can be used. The video covers sample practices for school teams and youth teams.
